To keep track of that information, businesses especially in the Kenyan SMEs would use a wide range of software programs, such as Excel, Access, Quick Books and different database applications for various departments throughout their organization. Using multiple software programs makes it difficult to retrieve information in a timely manner and to perform analysis of the data. Now this is where ERP comes in handy as it is one software program that keeps information of all the departments in the organization. Better still; the ERP comes in cloud technology where the information can be accessed from anywhere, anytime. Let’s jump into what Business Intelligence is all about.

Business intelligence (BI) is a technology-driven process for analyzing data and presenting actionable information to help corporate executives, business managers and other end users make more informed business decisions. BI encompasses a variety of tools, applications and methodologies that enable organizations to collect data from internal systems and external sources, prepare it for analysis, develop and run queries against the data, and create reports, dashboards and data visualizations to make the analytical results available to corporate decision makers as well as operational workers.

Generally these systems will illustrate business intelligence in the areas of customer profiling, customer support, market research, market segmentation, product profitability, statistical analysis, and inventory and distribution analysis.

BI data can include historical information, as well as new data gathered from source systems as it is generated, enabling BI analysis to support both strategic and tactical decision-making processes. Initially, BI tools were primarily used by data analysts and other IT professionals who run analyses and produced reports with query results for business users. Increasingly, however, business executives and workers are using BI software themselves, thanks partly to the development of self-service BI and data discovery tools like ERP systems.

The potential benefits of business intelligence programs include:

Accelerating and improving decision making. ERP generates reports for every department that can be presented on charts on the dashboard.

Optimizing internal business processes through the integration of information of all the departments.

Increasing operational efficiency.

Driving new revenues through effective management of the CRM.

Gaining competitive advantages over business rivals.

BI systems can also help companies identify market trends and spot business problems that need to be addressed.

Saving time and costs of having to use different software for every department, since business intelligence is on information on all departments.

Business intelligence software is designed with the primary goal of extracting important data from an organization’s raw data to reveal insights to help a business make faster and more accurate decisions. The software typically integrates data from across the enterprise and provides end-users with self-service reporting and analysis. BI software uses a number of analytics features including statistics, data and text mining and predictive analytics to reveal patterns and turn information into insights.

Over to you…

Are the system you are using now able to give you business intelligence?

What areas do you need help in this?

As you move toward the midpoint of the article, this paragraph provides an opportunity to connect earlier ideas with new insights. Use this space to present alternative perspectives or address potential questions readers might have. Strike a balance between depth and readability, ensuring the information remains digestible. This section can also serve as a transition to the closing points, maintaining momentum as you steer the discussion to its final stages.

For any business, making decisions is crucial for the management and growth of the business as it gives the business…

[8
12
post-30","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-erp","tag-featured
["GET
